PS 139's Mission & Vision

Our Mission

The mission of P.S. 139 is to provide a nurturing environment that promotes and celebrates the differences in all of our students while fostering independence and developing life-long learners.

We will create independent life-long learners by developing a commitment to academic excellence through differentiated instruction in literacy and numeracy based skills while maintaining rigorous instructional practices in all consent areas that support individual student’s needs and maximize their potential.

Our Vision

PS 139 is an elementary school dedicated to the development, equity, and inclusion of all. We will exemplify a collaborative school community of cultural differences with a shared commitment to excellence. Administrators, staff, families, and community partners will work together to maintain a conducive and nurturing learning environment that develops students into life-long learners and contributing citizens to their community.

Race & Equity Statement

We are educators and staff of PS 139 who seek to interrupt, disrupt, and dismantle racism, bigotry, and prejudice. We place racial equity at the forefront of our work, but also strive to uphold diversity throughout the school, including recognizing the intersectional nature of our diverse identities. The definition of diversity includes: Socio-economic, Region, Ability, Gender, Race, Sexual Orientation, Language, Age, and Religion. We define racial equity as the systematic fair treatment of people of all races, resulting in equitable opportunities, processes, and outcomes for all of our students and families, and we work to advance racial equity through education, self-reflection, discussion, curriculum analysis, and leadership development.
